Plan de estudios

Principles Learning English as a foreign language is a demanding activity for both learners and teachers.
The training experience we offer aims at becoming an opportunity for the development of teaching strategies. It is intended for student-teachers and teachers who are taking their first steps in their careers and also for teachers who already have some experience and want to enhance their resources.
In this on-line workshop, we will share routines, activities and projects that we have been trying out at different levels with successful results. We will also encourage you to exchange your own ideas and suggestions, and together we will compile our most creative and effective proposals so as to have them always at hand.
What theories lie behind your teaching?
We all have beliefs that guide us. Most probably, during your teacher training, different theories were introduced to you and, as time went by, you adopted the ones that, in your opinion, explained the teaching and learning processes better. But the source of our belief system involves not only what we have learned throughout our professional training but also our personal history and what we experienced as students. That's why we sometimes act leaving aside our theoretical convictions and so we teach as we were taught, copying patterns and repeating procedures. Other times, we may find it difficult to put those theories into practice.
This workshop is an invitation to reflect on the paradigms that, conscious or unconsciously, guide our practices, and it also offers interesting activities to try in your classes as well as ideas for you to generate new resources.
What material do we use to teach?
Due to the number of classes we have to prepare and the little time we usually have, we often resort to the same ideas over and over, leaving less room for our creativity and imagination.
Here we offer inspiring ideas already put into practice so that you can try them too. They are intended to be a starting point for you to think of new activities that can enrich your classes. .
How do we teachers keep on learning?
Since we would like to contribute to your training, we offer you this workshop as an opportunity for reflecting on your own experience as a teacher and for exchanging points of view and sharing ideas with other teachers.
We hope that you can also use this course as a springboard for creating new activities and attractive projects that motivate your students.
Besides, at the end of the course, we would also like to compile the most interesting proposals, so as to have them all organized in a file for easy reference.

Objectives We invite you to: Embark upon on-going training based on reflection and sharing of experiencies.
Critically evaluate your daily professional practice and the theoretical background that supports it.
Increase your repertoire of activities.

Use your imagination and creativity to think of activities that foster your students' active participation.
Share experiences.

Methodology Our course is divided into three explanatory modules that will be gradually presented to you. Each module also offers a series of activities especially designed so as to help you reflect on your work, use our ideas in your classes, adapt them to your own needs and beliefs and create new activities for your students.
We encourage a dynamic and reflective approach to the teaching of English. We will provide you with samples of activities and projects, as well as the theoretical background that supports our proposals. We will challenge you with varied activities: some will be for you to reflect on; others will be done individually and then shared; others will be carried out in groups. We are very interested in promoting a critical analysis and the constant exchange of opinions and points of view. And this will be reflected in all the proposals we make. Finally, as we pointed out before, we want to compile the different activities suggested by us and by every participant, so that we can have this really useful file always at hand.
You can also count on our permanent support, from the virtual classroom and through e-mail, tools that will make our communication easy. Besides, we will invite you to participate in the class mailing list, discussion forums and chat.
This course will be taught in English completely on-line.
Evaluation The evaluation will be permanent and formative. The activities we put forward will allow us to get to know you and the way you teach, and to follow your learning process closely.
As a participant to this course you will be asked to hand in 75% of the activities we suggest, as well as three integration activities, one for each module. You also have to collaborate with the compilation of activities and to do a final task, which will mainly help you reflect upon the whole course, the difficulties you faced and the achievements you obtained.
We will permanently promote a critical reflection on our training course, your own practice and the ideas we may come across during the workshop. Thus, we will also evaluate your participation in the class mailing list, discussion forums and chat.
