Increasing concerns such as poverty, terrorism, conflict, human rights, economic development, displacement, and the global environment, make the study of international politics a unique and exciting challenge.City's International Politics MA course provides you with an opportunity to examine and critically evaluate issues of the contemporary world. It focuses on the study of global policy-making using theoretical and practical approaches, with core and elective modules covering the following areas/fields:

Course Structure

During the International Politics MA course, you take six taught modules and also complete an MA dissertation. The modules cover all areas of international policy, relations and diplomacy. As you elect which modules you want to study you can shape the programme towards your future job and career aspirations.

Teaching and Assessment


On the International Politics Masters degree, you will be taught through a mixture of lectures, seminars, student presentations and practical workshops. Teaching is supported by a personal tutorial and supervision system and a general lecture series with outside speakers (both professional and academic). You will complete six taught modules, made up of a mixture of compulsory core and elective options. You will also take part in a dissertation workshop and produce your dissertation over the summer...
